Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose an image for a commission-piece?

Images that work best are relaxed, natural portraits that show some facial expression or character.

Close-up images work well, but are not always required - as long as the image is of reasonable quality I will be able to work with it.

The image can be colour or B&W.

There are a few images that do not translate well into this art-form, but don’t worry, I’m happy to help you choose images that will look great!

How long will it take to make?

Usually dispatched within 28 days from final approval of the image(s), but may vary depending upon demand.

Where do I hang it?

Ideally somewhere that allows a variable viewing distance.  Up close, the image will be an abstract pattern, but viewing from further away will reveal the ‘hidden’ image.  The artwork lends itself to being positioned in an open plan larger room, or on a wall that can be viewed through a doorway of an adjoining room or hallway.  Positioning so that it can be viewed in a mirror or through a garden window also works extremely well as the artwork can appear almost ‘photo-like’ at the greater distance.

Can you make a piece in colour?

The effect of the artwork works wonderfully well in black and white.  As the viewing distance increases the close-up abstract image of black and white blocks transforms into shades of grey revealing the recognisable image.

Coloured artworks can be made by special request.

Are the LEGO® bricks glued in place?

No, with this type of construction the pieces tend to stay in place very well indeed, but it’s still important to keep the artwork out of the reach of small children! Individual bricks may be considered a choking hazard to younger children.

How are the images framed?

The images suit being edged with a thin metal frame, giving a light contemporary finish.  Other framing options can be discussed.

How do I make payment?

Following approval of the image(s), a 50% deposit will be required prior to the artwork being produced.  The balance will be payable prior to dispatch of the artwork.

I find Paypal is the easiest way to make payment.

How much is delivery?

Standard courier rates apply - purely dependent on your location and size of artwork.
